Window Installation FAQs in Parkdale

What does window installation involve in Parkdale?

Athans Building Services measures and prepares the opening, removes the old frame where needed, and fits the new window with suitable packers and fixings. Surrounding timber can be repaired, with interior edges finished using reveals, sills or trim. Each part of the job helps the window sit correctly and meet the surrounding walls neatly.

Can an opening be changed for a larger window?

A window opening may be adjusted to suit a different size, depending on the wall and its framing. New openings can be made in suitable non structural walls, while other situations may need further assessment before work proceeds. Athans Building Services can review the proposed change and explain what carpentry is involved.

How are old window frames removed and replaced?

The old frame is carefully removed so the opening can be checked and prepared for the replacement. Any surrounding timber that needs attention can be repaired before the new frame is positioned and secured with packers and fixings. Careful preparation helps the replacement sit properly and gives the interior edges a neat finish.

What types of windows can be fitted?

Carpentry work can include fitting sliding, awning and double hung window units. The opening is prepared to suit the chosen unit, then the frame is positioned and fixed in place. The right approach depends on the existing opening and the window selected, so these details are considered before installation begins.

Do you repair timber around a window opening?

Yes, surrounding timber can be repaired where it needs attention during window installation. The condition of the opening is checked after the old frame is removed, and suitable repairs can be carried out before the new frame is fitted. This helps provide a sound connection between the window and the surrounding wall.

Why are reveals and trim fitted around windows?

Timber reveals, sills, architraves and trim finish the interior edges around a window and help create a tidy connection with the wall. They can also cover the gap between the frame and the interior surface. Athans Building Services takes care with these finishing details so the completed installation looks neat.
